Shamanic Soul Retrieval

The term "Shamanism" is derived from an Evensk word from the Tungus region of Siberia. Michael Harner, the founder of The Foundation for Shamanic Studies, translates the word 'shaman' as either "one who sees in the dark" or "one who sees with eyes closed." The word 'shaman' is not gender specific. It has no linguistic connection to 'man' or 'woman'.

The word shaman describes a very specific role and methodology within Siberian tribal society. The methodology includes the use of the drum beat to instigate an ecstatic altered state of consciousness that allows the shaman to send his or her soul flying into the various spirit realms. Unlike other priests or magicians, instead of calling the spirits to our world, the shaman usually goes to the spirits.

Kate is a certified Shamanic Practitioner, certified through Alan Tickhill, formerly of the Raven Lodge, Kent, England. She has also trained with various teachers through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, established by Michael Harner.

Her training has focused on North American Native American "medicine" practices as well as European, specifically the Celtic traditions. This qualifies her to conduct what is known as "Shamanic Soul Retrieval", and to teach the practices of indiginous spiritual traditions as they pertain to Native North American and Celtic lineages.

What is a Shamanic Soul Retrieval?

A Shamanic Soul Retrieval utilizes ancient techniques that spiritually reconnect fragmented emotional and psychic aspects of the client. These fragmented emotional and psychic aspects have fractured or split off from the soul/psyche, which has also been referred to as the "Authentic Self".

This fracturing can be due to physical and/or emotional traumas, which can include illness, accident, physical or emotional injury, the death of a loved one, or the loss of a way of life.

The goal of a Shamanic Soul Retrieval session is to enable you to reclaim your soul essence and authenticity as it was prior to your trauma experience.

What happens during a Shamanic Soul Retrieval?

• Introductory Session

All Soul Retrieval sessions begin with a one-hour introductory session, (in person or via telephone) during which you and Kate will discuss your known cause of the injury, illness, or trauma, and your goals for your Shamanic Soul Retrieval.

Often she will ask clients to visit The Enneagram Institute on-line and take the free personality test, which will shed further light upon the dynamics of their soul loss.

• The Soul Retrieval Session

All Shamanic Soul Retrieval sessions are scheduled during night and with most sessions lasting between one and a half to two hours. A Shamanic Soul Retrieval can be performed in person or via distance. In the case of a distance session, Kate utilizes a "surrogate" (actually a small stuffed animal Teddy Bear), to take your place physically during the session. This is also a time-honored method of performing a Shamanic Soul Retrieval.

At the beginning of the session, Kate will go into prayer and meditation and call upon her Spirit Guides, your Spirit Guides, the Ancestors, and her Power Animals.

When she receives the "signal" from her Guides and Ancestors, she will then lay down to begin the Soul Retrieval through a process known as "Shamanic Journeying". If she is performing this session with you in-person, she will ask you to lay down on your back while she performs the Soul Retrieval. (If your Soul Retrieval is being performed via distance, she will request that you lay down at home in your bedroom during the entire period of the Soul Retrieval.)

Once the Soul Retrieval is completed, and Kate has returned to "ordinary reality", she will return the Soul fragments that have been retrieved for you, by blowing into your Crown Chakra or Heart Chakra, as she is guided by the Ancestors and Power Animals. Once this has been achieved, she will immediately begin tape recording her experience of your Soul Retrieval Journey as a permanent record for you.
